Engagement!

As you could probably guess from the title, yes it finally happened! Rocco proposed last Monday, March 21st at Sunday River. I'm so happy to be getting married to my soulmate and best friend! Ee!
I must admit, though after a week of engagement bliss I have found myself on the brink of insanity…to put it lightly, I mean. I'm stuck in the "make-everyone-happy" state of mind and I gotta tell ya, it's really screwing with my emotions. Planning a wedding is not as easy as I thought...
My mentality going into this was, "Oh, ours will be simple; we're offbeat so it'll be easy!"
Lies. We only just started sorting through who we want to come. I stretched my side of the family to about 25. Rocco has 97 and counting. Oy.
Either way I'm taking the week to not be insane and take a breather.
That's all for now, I'm off to class so I can sneak-read my Offbeat Bride book!

So Much Stuff...

It seems blogging has taken a backseat to everything else in my insane life...but here I am, so don't fret! I have updates!

First of all Clutter was an absolute success! Laura and Dalton were absolutely fantastic. Also, my designers made the show look so beautiful. It's lovely to have free time now, but I do miss it. It was a pretty fantastic experience.

Speaking of plays I just won the 10-minute playwriting contest hosted by the literary journal, Words and Images. Not only do I get published with a lovely stipend, but I get to do a performance of my play in front of many esteemed writers at a reception. I'm so happy it's gross.

Also, I just finished the first draft of my latest full-length play with the working title, "Colorblind: A Tragedy." It's sad in so many ways. I'm really excited about it.

Finally, the understudy run for Triumph of Love is next Wednesday. Enough said. Also, I was cast in MadHorse Theatre's (a professional theatre company, by the way) production of a new musical, Shameless!, debuting for the first time ever for the Dark Night series. Best part? It's a real role. Not an understudy role. I'm moving up in the world!

One Month

I'm sorry it's been so long since I've posted, I just had to finish the semester without setting myself on fire.

As for the title of this post, as of today it will be exactly one month until I have to go back to school. I can not tell you how invigorating that is! Honestly, I need a break... This past semester I overcommitted myself to the limit and I swear I will never EVER do that again. (Maybe).

As for understudying, I'm not looking forward to doing it yet again, but hey, it's the only show I'm involved in at school next semester so I should be ok. There is a possibility that Assunta may have a role for me in the show she's doing in June so that is something I can most definitely look forward to if she still wants me. I am at the point where I am just ready to graduate and move on. I really have to think about my future now and, honestly that scares the holy living crap out of me. I can deal with it, though; I have a huge support system when it comes to Rocco and my family and friends. I'm sure that whatever I do I'll be ok.

Either way, I hate these long periods where I don't write; I feel almost as if I'm torturing myself. Sure, fiction is great, but venting is fantastic for the soul. Personally, I'm happy that I chose today to start blogging again; it's significant of a one-month period where I am free to do whatever the hell I want (within reason, of course), read several books (at least), and gear up for that one final year of work towards getting my diploma.

Fall '11, guys. It's gonna be big.

Words!

I apologize for the immense delay in writing; I've been ridiculously busy with literally everything in my life. Thus begins the shameless-self-promotion.

And...GO!

First of all: I want to give a shout out to the cast of The Serpent, which was my play that I wrote for AddVerb. It premiered tonight at the Out and Allied Youth Performances (Tomorrow they are at the UNE campus in Biddeford and Wednesday at First Parish Church in Portland). It was an amazing feeling watching my words come alive onstage. I recommend becoming a playwright just for this feeling. It's fantastic.

Everyone was fantastic times ten at the callbacks. I was literally in tears after every performance. The show is going up in February and rehearsals start after Bug closes. It'll be a hoot n' a half, I tell ya what. I. Can't. WAIT!

Third: Speaking of Bug, the understudy run is Monday, October 25th at 7:30. It's free, and I'm in my underwear. Totally. Worth it. The actual show debuts on October 29th and runs through Halloween.

It shall be amazing.

Callbacks!

Well I just finished my callback for Triumph of Love about an hour ago.

It went well!

Only myself and one other person got called back for "Hesione," and she wanted Corinne which she also got called back for...but I won't get my hopes up yet.

Last time this happened I wound up with the understudy role, so I'm not going to stress myself out.

I'm still going to be nervous, oh hell yes, but I won't think either way.

Either way, I'm excited!

The list goes up tomorrow at 12.

My Niece's Birthday

...was yesterday. I had such an insane day that I got home and passed out without a second thought. So a quick shout out and a Happy Birthday to Sarah who is no 18!

Prepping

So I didn't get into Harvey, but I'm ok with that. I'm excited about auditions for Triumph of Love also. I'm trying very hard to come up with the perfect pair of songs to sing, so I have a lot to do this weekend. I also have the Understudy run for Lend Me A Tenor on my birthday (6 days) so I have to buckle down and be ready by Monday to do a run with my fellow understudies.

To reiterate: my weekend shall be INSANE!!

Other than that...well...there you go.

Haircut

I got a lovely haircut today from one of my best friends, Abbey Worthing.

I had to look nice for my callback, after all.

Speaking of the callback it went nicely! I'm confident that I did all right and I hope I get cast.

Not for Airswimming, but for Harvey instead. After reading the play I absolutely love it!

Cattle Calls

So today were the cattle call auditions for the spring shows, Airswimming and Harvey.

My monologue went very successfully and I got good feedback from both directors. The callback lists go up tomorrow so I'm excited about that.

As for other shows I'll be busy as a bee for the next two weeks. Lend Me A Tenor goes into tech in a couple of weeks and Bug is in it's blocking stages this week. Not only do I have to juggle two understudy roles, but I have to make sure all my assignments are done on time. Either way, I'll probably go crazy to the max by the end of the week.

Oh, and Lady GaGa came to Portland today to speak on the "Don't Ask Don't Tell" debate. They're threatening to disallow homosexual men and women in the military. Obviously this is ridiculously discriminatory, so GaGa, herself came to give a speech. Unfortunately I was otherwise occupied and couldn't see her give her speech, but I'm glad she stands for such great things.

Unbitter

Well, I didn't get into Steel Magnolias, but I'm not the least bit bitter. I feel so good to not be bitter. Sure I would have preferred to get in, but about 46 people auditioned for 6 roles. As I said, it was a long shot, but I'm still glad I did it.

Tomorrow, however, are the auditions for Harvey and Airswimming. My monologue is memorized and timed and I'm ready to go. I'm nervous, but I'll be ok. I'll be able to breathe I swear. Plus, if all else fails I can just audition for Triumph of Love so I'm not worried.

Anyway, that's all for now.

Auditioning

It felt so good to audition for Steel Magnolias at Portland Players this afternoon. Even if I don't get a part (It's a long shot anyway since a TON of people auditioned) it felt so good to get out there and audition for something outside of USM or New Edge Entertainment.

I feel really good and I'm not going to worry about whether I got in or not, (though it would be nice) because it felt great just to put myself out there.

Plus my dress looked awesome.
