The Awesome End

Well the Prom is officially over. My run as Whitley went surprisingly well considering I had no rehearsals for the role. Although it was a stressful show I'm glad I did it. Not everyone can say they survived the Awesome 80s Prom, now can they?
August is almost over as well and that means that September is next which means my birthday is in a month! Yes, a month from this Sunday I will be 21. I can not stand the wait; I've been having dreams about it!
Many a fun time will be planned, believe you me. I plan on going out in style.
Also, school starts on Monday. Whoa.
Well, that's all for now. Stay cool, kids.

Cheers,
M.E.J.

Reading

It's a wonderful distraction from the everyday muck that falls into one's lap. My writing has been on hold, but I think that I can at least finish the play this week. It's hard to focus your attention on something good when there is so much bad around you. Yet, I feel that falling into a world other than your own and learning about other people's struggles makes your life seem less...sad, I suppose. Neil Gaiman is wonderful for that. His writing is a magnificent cure for my situation.
It'll be ok, guys. Just send me some good karma. Lots of it. Please?

Cheers,
M.E.J.

Stella

I would like to take this moment to remember Stella, my first car; a 1994 Honda Civic DX Coupe.
She was proclaimed officially dead today and I had a serious emotional attachment to her. It was kind of weird, but hey, we all have our things.

I first got her on June 8, 2007, the day I graduated High School. From the first moment I saw her I knew: She was my car.
She got me through some good times and some tough times, many of which involved me getting lost. She may have had her faults, but she was still a wonderful car, (and amazing on gas). Through all of her 160,000+ miles, she has always been a fantastic mode of transportation that I will never forget.

So I dedicate this post to Stella, my first car. Rest in Parts.

Cheers,
M.E.J.

Good Karma, Please?

More things are just piling on top of each other causing my stress levels to overload. I want something good to happen at least once this month. The promotion was a great boost, but something HUGE needs to happen to make up for all the crap that has fallen on top of me. I really hope my car isn't gone forever. (The initial problem was fixed, but now the mechanic can't get it to start.) I really hope that they find out what's wrong and that it doesn't cost another grand to fix. Oh, sigh...
Send me some good karma, kids; I need it.

Cheers,
M.E.J.

Oh, the things...

Yet again a little black cloud has been hanging over my head this week.
The car broke down AGAIN when Rocco and I were helping our friends move into their new house. Also, Rocco's wallet has mysteriously vanished AGAIN. All in all this week has totally sucked.
However, I'm trying to keep my spirits up, though the book I'm reading is slightly depressing...several people have died already and I'm on chapter five. Oy! Well, that's Neil Gaiman for you, I suppose.
Either way, I'll try to keep in good spirits. That car may be ready tomorrow and then I can get myself to a rehearsal so I'm ready to play Whitley next Friday.
On a totally unrelated note, I'm very excited for the premier of Season 6 of "Weeds." It is an amazing show and after seeing the first episode I'm confident that this season is going to be insane!
Well, that's all for now.
Stay strong, campers!

Cheers,

Awesome?

Well, last night we had another show of Awesome 80s Prom. Let's just say that it wasn't the same as it was before... Only seven people showed up, we were missing a character, my "twin" had no rehearsal, and there was a hole in the butt of my dress. Though the show did not go as successfully as before, what audience we had were great, (I got a write-in vote for prom queen!) and we managed to perform a slightly cut show to the best of our ability.
Now for some better news: One of our players, the captain of the cheerleaders (my character's idol) is too pregnant for the role. As her understudy, it is my job to step up and take her role in situations such as this. I have her lines and dance already memorized so I'm as ready as ever!
I am happy to say that I have gotten an upgrade! I am now Whitley Whitiker! I'm so excited!
It needs to be kept on the down-low for now, because my director wants to make an official announcement since some people would rather of had the role.
At least something is still awesome!

Cheers,
M.E.J.

Books and Brainstorming

Sorry I've been inactive yet again. At least this time it's because I've been working my fingers to the bone typing AND I've been reading a book a day for the past three days. Why, yesterday I finished a book in a single four hour sitting! It's been crazy!
Apart from my Gaiman madness, I've been inspired by a book called, "Theater Geek." It is a nonfiction book about a summer theatre camp and it has inspired me to write my own piece on life in the theatre. I'm keeping this one under raps so that my juice doesn't run out.
Either way, I'm happy again and as inspired as ever!
Have a good one, kids! Stay fresh!

Cheers,
M.E.J.

Gaiman MADNESS!!

I've got a new literary obsession and that is: Neil Gaiman.
Ever since I finished "American Gods" I've been hooked. I can't wait to get started on the three new books I got.
Luckily, the extra reading material works for the book I'm writing. I'm getting inspiration all over the place!
Have a splendid day, kids. I have some reading to do!

Cheers,
M.E.J.

...and Twins

Still no word on who will be my twin brother for the next show of Awesome 80s Prom. Luckily I'm not as stressed as I was a couple of days ago.
I have a feeling that I can go on by myself and still make the roll work. I'm sure I'll have plenty of material. Perhaps I can emphasize that I'm a freshman at the prom and that my 'stupid brother' was supposed to show up, but got sick? I'm not sure, but I have five days to think about it.
Anywho, the book, (which has yet to be titled) and Haunted are moving along nicely. I'm glad to say that I actually have enough ideas to keep the book going. As for the play, I keep flip-flopping on whether to keep it as one character or do two acts with the sisters...
It's a tough call. Opinions?

Anyway that's all for now, I've got to get writing!

Cheers,
M.E.J.

Minor Delay

I know I haven't posted in the past couple of days, but things have kind of sucked for the most part.
One thing after another has been going wrong and I was just not in the mood to write for my play let along blog.
But now I'm back and I'm ready for action!
I also come bearing news! Today I finally finished reading Neil Gaiman's "American Gods." When I was done I just got this wave of inspiration that rushed over me and I started writing. Most of my ideas came from a dream I had about two weeks ago, but nonetheless I'm starting...wait for it...a BOOK! I have enough ideas for it to actually be a viable piece of reading material. This is also very exciting for me because I have been wanting to write a book for a long time; a VERY LONG TIME.
I'll continue to post updates on ALL of my writing projects and maybe post clippings of writing once it really gets underway.
I look forward to hearing opinions and I can't wait to share it with you all!

Cheers,
M.E.J.

The Week from Hell

And I don't mean Tech Week.
It's been the kind of week that has taken a lot out of me and especially my Beau. For example: I am posting this from outside my apartment because I locked myself out. Both sets of keys are inside, but we are not. It's weeks like these that really bring out the depression in me.
Here's hoping for a better week starting tomorrow.

Cheers,
M.E.J.
